Efforts to expand the Yates Community Center advanced after Penn Yan village officials approved steps toward annexing over 12 acres of its land, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The property, currently in the Town of Benton, includes the center’s trails, basketball court, and playground. Annexation would allow direct access to village utilities and support a proposed 3.5-acre health facility offering medical, dental, and mental health services through Finger Lakes Community Health.
Environmental assessments found no major concerns, allowing the process to proceed.
