Geneva man charged in home invasion arrested again for robbery

  • Staff Report

A local man is in custody after a series of robberies in Ontario County.

Joseph Woody, a 54-year-old man from Geneva, is facing new charges for a burglary that occurred nearly three years ago in the Town of Geneva, following his recent arrest for a separate home robbery last month. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Woody, also known by the alias J.J. Eldridge, connecting him to a 2021 larceny at a business on County Road 6.

Charged with burglary and jailed without bail, Woody is scheduled for a court appearance in Geneva Town Court to respond to the allegations. This incident adds to his legal troubles, as he was previously arrested on February 2 for his involvement in an armed home invasion on Castle Street on January 31.

Currently on probation for criminal possession of stolen property, Woody’s latest arrest underscores ongoing legal issues and raises concerns about repeat offenders.
