Drunk driver leads police on chase through Ithaca

A 35-year-old Ithaca resident, Adriane E. Teabout, was arrested late Thursday night after leading Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies on a chase through the city. The incident began when deputies spotted Teabout running a red light in a red Mitsubishi SUV on West Seneca Street at around 10:28 PM.

Despite the activation of police lights and sirens, Teabout continued to drive, violating several traffic laws. The pursuit ended when the Ithaca Police Department located the Mitsubishi after deputies had stopped chasing it.

Upon investigation, deputies determined that Teabout was intoxicated. She was arrested and charged with multiple misdemeanors, including Driving While Intoxicated, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Additionally, she faces various traffic law violations. Teabout refused a breath test and is being held for arraignment proceedings.
