A Cayuga County family is campaigning for a reduced speed limit on a notorious local road following their daughter’s fatal car accident. Ana Moon Marsh, a 19-year-old Southern Cayuga High School graduate tragically lost her life on Route 90 after a head-on crash.
The road, which claimed the lives of three students 50 years ago, including those known to Alicia Kirk, Ana’s mother, is under scrutiny again, according to new reporting by The Citizen.
The speed limit there is 55 mph, but the Kirks are advocating for a reduction to 45 mph.
They have initiated a change.org petition, drawing community support, to persuade the New York State Department of Transportation to implement this change along with additional safety measures.
