Ana Marsh, a 19-year-old resident of Venice, tragically passed away on Monday afternoon at Strong Memorial Hospital due to injuries sustained in a head-on collision last week.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her passing, following the crash that occurred on Route 90 near Creek Road in Genoa on Thursday afternoon.
Marsh, who was driving eastbound, was struck by a westbound vehicle that veered into oncoming traffic. Following the accident, she was airlifted to the hospital for treatment of multiple injuries, and a GoFundMe page was initially set up to support her medical expenses, which will now aid her family with funeral costs.
Marsh was a recent graduate of Southern Cayuga High School and had just begun her first semester in the physical therapy program at Cayuga Community College.
The driver of the westbound vehicle, identified as 71-year-old Juldie Baker of King Ferry, was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse for injuries.
The sheriff’s office has not provided an update on Baker’s condition. There were no passengers in either vehicle involved in the crash.
The sheriff’s office is continuing its investigation into the accident and has encouraged anyone with further information to contact Detective David Harkness at (315) 294-8143 or submit tips online at cayugacounty.us/452/send-a-tip.
