The holiday travel season is here. New York State Police are issuing a warning to drivers of all ages after an accident in Orange County, where a trooper’s cruiser was struck from behind.
The accident happened on the Thruway.
They say the trooper was providing traffic control for a disabled vehicle, when the vehicle was struck by a pickup truck.
The cruiser then collided with the disabled vehicle.
No one was seriously injured, despite the trooper sitting inside the vehicle at moment of impact. There were two people inside the disabled pickup truck, too.
State police say this is the latest reminder for motorists to move over and pay attention when on the road.
“This is just another close call and a scary reminder to PAY ATTENTION while driving and to MOVE OVER while passing by any emergency vehicle or hazardous situation on the side of the road,” state police wrote in a post on Facebook.
