The New York Mets added infield depth Tuesday.
The team announced that the club agreed to a one-year minor league contract with Jose Iglesias that includes an invite to spring training.
Iglesias, 33, did not appear in a big-league game in 2023 but posted an impressive .317/.356/.537 slash line across 135 plate appearances with the San Diego Padres Triple-A affiliate.
The last time Iglesias appeared in the Majors was in 2022, and he served as the starting shortstop for the Colorado Rockies, hitting .292 with 30 doubles over 118 games.Â
