The Syracuse Mets pitching staff put together a historic performance Sunday, combining to throw the franchise’s first nine-inning no-hitter in 55 years during an 8-0 victory over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Coca-Cola Park.
Six Syracuse pitchers combined to make franchise history. Kevin Herget opened the game with 1.2 hitless innings and struck out one, followed by Saul Garcia, who worked 1.1 innings while allowing one walk and recording a strikeout. Tobias Myers then delivered three perfect innings with one strikeout to earn the victory. Chayce McDermott took over for the seventh and allowed one walk without giving up a hit, Joe Jacques retired all three batters he faced in the eighth, and Zach Franklin closed out the ninth to complete the no-hitter.
The six-man effort marked Syracuse’s 18th no-hitter in franchise history. The pitchers combined to face 28 batters, allowing only two walks while striking out three.
The offense gave the pitching staff plenty of support, led by a spectacular afternoon from Mark Vientos. The Mets infielder went 4-for-5 with three home runs, five RBI, and three runs scored.

The victory gave Syracuse four wins in its six-game series against Lehigh Valley.
Syracuse returns home Tuesday to open a series against the Rochester Red Wings, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
