Seneca Falls man airlifted after Yates County crash

A car crash in Yates County resulted in a Seneca Falls man being airlifted to the hospital on Friday.

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were called to the scene at the intersection of Voak and Petersburg Roads in the Town of Potter, following the accident involving 30-year-old Michael Popp.

Popp, traveling north, lost control of his vehicle, causing it to leave the road and collide with a ditch on the west side. The impact of the crash led to significant injuries for Popp, necessitating urgent medical attention. In response, he was transported via Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he received treatment for injuries sustained to his lower extremities.

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident. As of now, details surrounding the circumstances that led to Popp’s vehicle leaving the roadway remain unclear. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover any contributing factors to the crash, as authorities work to understand this incident better.
