Kaylee Marvin, a senior at Gananda, is set to embark on a new basketball journey after signing her National Letter of Intent to play Division II basketball at Wheeling University in Wheeling, West Virginia.
The signing ceremony, held on Wednesday, was a moment of celebration and relief for Marvin, who is eager to lead her high school team into the upcoming Section V basketball season. Surrounded by friends, family, and younger siblings, the event was marked by joy and the promise of an exciting future in college basketball.

Marvin’s focus remains on the upcoming season at Gananda, where she has set high expectations for the girls’ basketball team. With winter sports practice beginning on Monday, she aims to take on more leadership and guide her team through the Section V championships. Her commitment to Wheeling University brings an end to the recruiting process, allowing her to concentrate fully on her final high school season.
Looking beyond her own achievements, Marvin is also keen on setting a positive example for younger students who aspire to reach similar heights in sports. The Gananda girls’ basketball team, which advanced to the Section V Class C1 quarterfinals last season and to the Class C2 championship in 2022, will start their 2023-24 season on December 5 at Red Creek, with their home opener scheduled for December 7 against North Rose-Wolcott.
