Canandaigua woman falsely reported a fire: Held cigarette up to smoke detector to draw emergency response

Police say a 20-year-old Canandaigua woman falsely reported a fire and now faces charges.

Naomi Sharp, 20, was arrested for falsely reporting an incident after she said there was a fire at a Parrish Street residence.

It was determined that Sharp held a cigarette up to a smoke detector with the intention of having first responders called to the address.

She was released on an appearance ticket, according to police.
