Steuben woman faces felony charges over fraudulent social services claims

Steuben County authorities arrested Tianna M. Wilson, 35, of Hornell, New York, on charges related to fraudulent claims made to the county’s Department of Social Services.

The county’s sheriff, Jim Allard, indicated that between May and July 2020, Wilson allegedly submitted false documents which resulted in her unlawfully receiving benefits totaling $1,733 that she was not entitled to.

Wilson is now facing charges of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and fourth-degree grand larceny.

After her arrest on August 31, 2023, she was released on an appearance ticket and is set to appear in the Village of Bath Court. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office collaborated with the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit and the District Attorney’s Office in the investigation.
