In a notable development, New York Attorney General Letitia James has urged Judge Arthur Engoron to deliver an immediate ruling in the civil lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, alleging fraud in his real estate dealings.

Court documents unveiled Wednesday reveal James’ contention that Trump and his company, the Trump Organization, misled banks and business partners by inflating his financial assets in official statements.

While a hearing is set for Sept. 22 regarding this request, the lawsuit, which seeks a hefty $250 million in penalties and proposes a business prohibition on Trump in New York, is slated for trial on Oct. 2. Messages to Trump and the Trump Organization for comment went unanswered. Trump has labeled the lawsuit a “politically motivated Witch Hunt.”

This lawsuit is one of several legal challenges Trump faces as he aims to return to the Oval Office.
