Bath man charged after alleged public lewdness incident

A Bath man was arrested late last month after police say he exposed himself and engaged in lewd behavior in public while following a woman.

Officers with the Village of Bath Police Department were dispatched around 8:50 a.m. on March 30 to the area of West William and Liberty streets for a report of a nude male following a female.

Police identified the suspect as Randy N. Burdick, 46, of Bath, who was known to the victim. Officers located Burdick walking on Exchange Street and observed him, clothed in a bathrobe, running into his residence in what police described as an attempt to evade law enforcement.

An investigation determined that Burdick had exposed his private parts to the victim and engaged in lewd conduct in public, according to police.

He was taken into custody at his residence without incident and charged with public lewdness, a Class B misdemeanor.

Burdick was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment. Police said he has been arrested in the past by the department for similar conduct.
