State police have arrested an Ontario County resident for witness tampering after an extensive investigation.
Jeffery V. Kuney, a 45-year-old man from Canandaigua has been arrested on charges tampering with a witness, as a felony; and criminal mischief.
New York State Police Troop D – Felony Warrant Squad, with the assistance of Cicero Police, located Kuney living on his boat in Oneida Lake’s marina in the town of Cicero.
The recent charges stemmed from violations of protection orders issued to three witnesses set to testify against him in forthcoming trials.
Last summer, Kuney faced two major arrests: On July 25, 2022, he was arrested for first-degree rape. On August 24, 2022 he was arrested for criminal sex act and criminal sale of a controlled substance – both Class B felonies.
After posting a $50,000 bail Kuney was released from Ontario County Jail.
He has since been processed and returned to Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
