On August 20 around 8:30 a.m., deputies arrested Jeramiah J. Canery, 23, of Syracuse on charges of grand larceny after a vehicle theft in Phelps.
The theft was captured partially by the homeowner’s security system, showing the truck heading east.
Teaming up with Onstar, authorities traced the vehicle to a Fayetteville parking lot where the Manlius Police Department (MPD) found Canery in the stolen truck. The MPD took Canery into custody and charged him with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.
The joint investigation led to the successful capture of Canery and the recovery of the stolen vehicle. Following his arrest, Canery was transferred to the Onondaga County Justice Center. Due to his parole status, he was held without bail.
Future proceedings regarding the Ontario County incident are scheduled in the Town of Phelps Court.
