Wayne County teen arrested on child exploitation charges

New York State Police in Williamson have arrested 19-year-old Colin M. O’Connell of Ontario following multiple reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

O’Connell faces two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, and two counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Investigators allege that O’Connell disseminated child exploitation material online and had additional such materials stored on an electronic device.

The lengthy inquiry involved the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Child Task Force and the State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

Following his arraignment in Wayne County, O’Connell was released on his own recognizance. He is due to appear in Ontario Town Court on September 12, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.
