Hornell restaurant suddenly shuts down after briefly opening

Balloons East Restaurant, an emerging hotspot in Hornell, has suddenly ceased operations mere months after its debut.

Occupying the location of the previously popular Club 57 on Seneca Road, Balloons East declared its permanent closure through a Facebook post on Aug. 7, with the announcement coming just three months after its grand opening on May 3.

Initially established in Ellicottville’s Cattaraugus County in 1990, the Hornell establishment marked the restaurant chain’s inaugural satellite venue.

In preparation for its opening, significant enhancements were made to the building, such as revamped flooring, fresh paint, and upgraded kitchen equipment.
