Inn at Taughannock proposes massive expansion in Ulysses

In a bold move to increase their physical presence and meet growing demand, owners of the Inn at Taughannock presented a proposal to the town of Ulysses Planning Board for a major expansion project.

The news was first reported this week by The Ithaca Voice.

The Inn, which has enjoyed steady business growth since 2015, plans to add a new on-site lodge with a spa, fitness center, and event space, replacing an existing house owned by the inn. The proposal outlines the construction of a multi-purpose hotel with 75 guest rooms and an event space that includes a commercial kitchen. The project, estimated to cost between $20 and $30 million, significantly increases the 12-acre campus’s footprint.

The new lodge is designed to offer a comfortable atmosphere for guests year-round, featuring a lobby, a spa, a fitness center, a commercial kitchen, and a grand room with a cathedral ceiling. The upper floors will house the guest rooms, with bridal suites under large gables on the top floor.

Despite a previous unsuccessful expansion attempt, Inn owner Carl Mazzocone remains confident, stating in his letter to the Planning Board, “This is a significant amount of lost revenue due to our inability to provide additional rooms to our clients.”
