As part of its Bicentennial celebration, Wayne County will be hosting a unique “Keels and Wheels” show on Saturday, July 22. The event, which will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Sodus Bay Yacht Club, will showcase an impressive line-up of historic and contemporary boats and cars, providing attendees an opportunity to journey through the evolution of transportation since the early 1900s.
The exhibition will present vehicles dating from 1903 to 2023, arranged in chronological order, with a car representing each decade. Iconic models such as the 1903 Cadillac and the 2023 Chevrolet EV Bolt, alongside lesser-known vehicles like the 1953 Willys Aero Eagle, will be on display. The nautical segment will feature various types of vessels, including wooden and fiberglass models, with brands like Chris Craft taking the spotlight. Owners of the exhibited vehicles, mostly hailing from Wayne County, will provide brief descriptions of their prized possessions.
The event promises to be a feast for history and vehicle enthusiasts, complete with period costumes and raffles, with the grand prize being admission to the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY. Attendees can enjoy refreshments from a food vendor, with the Yacht Club offering an open house for drinks and amenities. The show is being sponsored by the Wayne County Bicentennial Committee, Summerfest, Sodus Bay Yacht Club, and Sodus Bay Junior Sailing Association. Event parking will be provided at a local baseball diamond, with a golf cart shuttle service ferrying guests to and from the venue.
