Finger Lakes Performing Provider System (FLPPS) has surpassed 1,000 enrollees in its Career Pathways Training Program, a major milestone in its mission to strengthen the healthcare workforce across Western and Central New York.
Funded by the New York State Department of Health, the CPT Program helps people enter or advance in the health, behavioral health, and social care fields by covering tuition, books, and academic fees. The initiative is designed to expand access to education while supporting providers that serve Medicaid and uninsured populations.
“Exceeding 1,000 enrollees reflects the urgent need for skilled healthcare workers throughout our region,” said Carol Tegas, CEO of FLPPS. “We are supporting the launch of meaningful careers in health, behavioral health, and social care by giving these individuals access to the resources needed to thrive.”
The program offers individualized case management, tutoring, academic advising, and job placement support in partnership with nearly 40 educational institutions. Enrollees commit to completing their degree by spring 2027 and working for three years in qualifying healthcare settings.
Fall 2025 registration is now open for four in-demand fields: associate registered nurse, master of social work, licensed mental health counselor, and respiratory therapist. Once fall enrollment closes, these tracks will no longer be offered through the CPT Program.
Training is provided by institutions such as Finger Lakes Community College, University at Buffalo, University of Rochester, and Genesee Community College. Deadlines vary by program, with most applications due in July and August.
