Palmyra begins comprehensive planning process, seeking public input

The Village and Town of Palmyra are gearing up to begin a year-long effort to develop the community’s comprehensive plan, focusing on long-term growth, development, and sustainability. The plan, led by a local steering committee, aims to capture insight from local stakeholders and interested community members.

The steering committee, composed of local stakeholders, will hold monthly meetings to deliberate on plan elements. They will also facilitate community engagement events, aiming to garner extensive input from local residents. The comprehensive plan will first evaluate existing conditions using demographic data, market information, interviews, and focus group discussions. Subsequently, the committee will devise a vision for the town’s future and strategize to propel the community forward.

Community members interested in contributing to the steering committee are encouraged to submit a one-to-two page letter detailing their reasons for seeking appointment and any unique qualifications they possess. The submission deadline is July 21, 2023. Residents inside the Village should submit their letters to Village Clerk Rebecca Wetherby, and those outside the Village should direct their submissions to Town Clerk Irene Unterborn.
