Gas prices remain flat across the Finger Lakes as summer approaches

  • Staff Report

Gas prices in the Finger Lakes remain unchanged from last week, with the average price for a gallon of gas standing at $3.69, according to AAA.

The national average price for a gallon of gasoline on Monday is $3.59, showing a four-cent increase compared to the previous week. In New York State, the average price is $3.69, down one cent since last Monday.

While gas prices in New York have remained relatively flat, the national average has risen due to higher demand.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that gas demand in the United States has stayed above 9 million barrels per day for three consecutive weeks, a trend not seen since November 2021. However, the increase in demand is being balanced by a rise in supply and stable oil prices around $70 per barrel, despite Saudi Arabia’s plan to cut oil production by an additional million barrels per day during the summer.
