A woman from Utica has been taken into custody following an altercation which resulted in a man suffering severe burns.
According to the police, they were called to a Court Street residence in the early hours of May 5, where they found a man who claimed he had been scalded with hot stew during an argument.
The woman involved in the dispute, identified as China Butler, 35, allegedly poured the stew from a crockpot onto the man’s head, causing serious burn injuries to his head and body.
The situation escalated further when Butler reportedly assaulted the man with a baseball bat. The man was subsequently transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and later transferred to Syracuse for advanced treatment. His condition is reported as stable, and he is expected to recover. Butler was arrested on Thursday and faces charges of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
