The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced on Monday that James Miller, a 63-year-old former Steuben County Assistant District Attorney from Corning, has been charged with possession of child pornography involving prepubescent minors.
The maximum sentence for the charge is 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The investigation began on May 26, 2021, when the New York State Police conducted a search of Miller’s residence on Fox Ridge Road.
During the search, authorities seized several digital devices, which contained over 100 images of child pornography. The search was initiated after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip that Miller’s email account was uploading suspected images of child pornography.
Miller was presented before a U.S. Magistrate Judge for an initial appearance and released on conditions.
