Bicyclist suffers traumatic head injury in Ithaca crash

On Wednesday at approximately 1:28 PM, Ithaca Police Officers responded to a report of a bicyclist that had crashed and was unconscious in the 500 block of E Buffalo St.


According to police reports, a male victim had been riding an Ithaca Bikeshare E-Bike westbound down the hill when he struck a pothole, causing him to lose control of the bicycle.

The impact resulted in the male victim striking the pavement head first and sustaining suspected traumatic injury to his head and face. The victim was initially treated on the scene by Bangs Ambulance personnel before being flown to a regional trauma center for further treatment of his injuries.


At this time, no additional information about the victim’s identity or condition has been released.

The Ithaca Police Department urges anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has additional information to come forward and contact the authorities.
