The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Michael A. Robinson, a 48-year-old resident of Union Street in Newark, for the murder of Torey Mathis.

Mathis was found dead in his apartment at Houses Motel, on State Route 31 in the Town of Arcadia, on June 7th, 2021. The arrest came after a 20-month investigation that involved the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Newark Police Department, and Wayne County DA’s Office.

Robinson was indicted by a Wayne County Grand Jury earlier this week on two counts of second-degree murder and one count of first-degree robbery.

Wayne County Sheriff’s Detectives located and arrested Robinson this afternoon, and he was arraigned in Wayne County Court. He was remanded to the Wayne County Jail without bail.

The arrest of Robinson marks a significant milestone in the investigation into the murder of Torey Mathis. The joint efforts of law enforcement agencies helped in bringing the perpetrator to justice. The residents of Wayne County can rest assured that the authorities are working tirelessly to ensure their safety and security.

Robinson is scheduled to appear in Wayne County Court on March 16th, where he will face the charges against him.
