Investigators with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on the homicide investigation unfolding after a body was discovered at an Arcadia motel last week.
On June 7 around 5:15 p.m. deputies were called to check the welfare of a person who lived at the Houses Motel, located on Route 31.
The person discovered deceased inside has been identified as Torey Mathis, 52, of Arcadia.
The investigation remains active.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred at the Houses Motel located on State Route 31 in Arcadia.
On Monday around 5:15 p.m. deputies were called to the scene to check the welfare of an individual who lived at one of the apartments at the Houses Motel.
Upon investigation, deputies located an individual who was deceased inside the unit. The name of the individual is being released upon confirmation from the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office, but deputies say that the investigation is being treated as a homicide.
