BOYS BASKETBALL: Lyons moves on to Class C Regional Qualifier with win over Northstar Christian

The Lyons Lions (23-1) continued their quest for a state title on Tuesday night with an 82-71 victory over the Northstar Christian Knights (16-9) in the Class C Sub-Regional at Marcus Whitman High School.

Northstar Christian led 18-17 after the opening quarter, but Lyons went on a little run and grabbed a seven-point lead at the break and never looked back. The Lions put up 23 third-quarter points to extend their lead to 15 and added 21 more in the final eight minutes behind a balanced scoring effort.

JC Walker led Lyons with a team-high 19 points. He scored 13 in the second half alone. Jacob Sides netted 12 first-half points and finished with 17. Jaiden Lopez poured in 15, and the big man Jamire Johnson shined on both ends of the floor as he added 14 and dominated the boards.

Re-listen to the game: Jim Sinicropi and Kevin Korzeniewski had the call on FL1 Radio.

Lyons will face Section VI representative Pembroke (22-1) in the NYS Class C Regional Qualifier on Thursday at Avon High School. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
