Corning Inc. has announced its sales for the year 2022, reaching almost $15 billion, a 5% increase from 2021. The company’s 4th-quarter core sales reached $14.8 billion, according to its recently released numbers.
Optical Communications sales were particularly strong, surpassing $5 billion, a record high for the glassworks company. However, the CEO and Chairman, Wendell Weeks, stated that the company’s profitability and cash flow have not kept pace with sales growth due to ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite this, Corning is optimistic about the future and expects core sales to reach between $3.2 billion and $3.4 billion in the first quarter of 2023. However, the company warned that sales may decrease more than normal due to COVID-19 outbreaks in China.
“I’m pleased with the sales growth we continue to deliver despite recession-level demand,” said Weeks. “We have taken significant steps to improve margins and cash generation starting this year.”
Corning remains committed to delivering strong financial results despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
