A Martville resident was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars through a daycare assistance fraud scheme.
Brandy Disbennett, 47, is accused of falsely claiming she was caring for three children to receive benefits, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities allege she received $2,481 in fraudulent payments between November 13 and December 31.
Disbennett was charged with Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree.
She was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Lyons Town Court.
