The state Department of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation has signed a purchase agreement with Baden-Powell Council of the Boy Scouts of America to purchase Camp Barton in Covert.
The decision to sell after Camp Barton said it had to consider ways to pay its share of the $1.4 million lawsuit settlement against Boy Scouts of America.
The final sale price is still being negotiated.
It hasn’t been officially sold yet, but a purchase agreement has been signed.
Part of that agreement will mean the property become a public recreation area.
