Several departments in Seneca County were called to a combine fire around 5:30 on November 22nd.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, deputies responded along with Interlaken, Ovid, and Lodi firefighters to the area of Lodi Covert Townline Road and State Route 96A for a combine fire.

The owner of the combine and land, identified as John Swanson III, age 73, was able to exit the machine safely without being injured.

Responding units had to travel several hundred yards off the roadway to reach the combine and extinguish the fire.

The damage was estimated at around $15,000. The cause of the fire stemmed from the hydraulic housing.
