Branchport man spat on Penn Yan resident, yelled racial slurs at them

The Penn Yan Police Department reports the arrest of a Branchport man following two separate incidents.

On August 8th Matthew Nowicki Jr., 32, of Branchport was found to be in possession of meth during a traffic stop on East Elm Street. He faced charges from that incident but had never been arraigned on the charges.


Two months later a second incident occurred. According to police, Nowicki spat int he face of another resident and yelled racial slurs at them.

He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and aggravated harassment.

Nowicki was arraigned and transported to the Yates County Jail.
