The Syracuse Mets held off a late Charlotte comeback as the Mets beat the Knights, 11-10, on Thursday night at Truist Field in a game delayed by rain for one hour and 34 minutes.
Syracuse pounded out 11 runs on 14 hits, including three home runs. Dominic Smith, Daniel Palka, and Mark Vientos all went deep. Smith collected four RBIs, while Palka and Vientos added three. All three of them had three-hit games as well. Travis Blankenhorn also chipped in with an RBI.
Mets 15th-ranked prospect José Butto left his start for the Mets after allowing a run over an inning of work. Veteran left-hander Mike Montgomery followed him in relief and surrendered five runs over 4 2/3 innings. Philip Diehl gave up the walk-off hit.
