China & Taiwan: What could happen if China goes after the U.S.?

Is it possible that a war between the U.S. and China could happen in just a matter of days? Would China win against the U.S.?

Following House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, Americans are concerned that China may want to start a war.

Now, people have questions.

Why did Nancy Pelosi decide to visit Taiwan despite being advised not to?

According to The Guardian, Nancy Pelosi chose to visit Taiwan to promote democracy.

Unfortunately, China had an issue with that, and had stated there would be consequences should Pelosi follow through with her visit.

Taiwan is a self governing island under the territory of Beijing.

China stated that the visit violates the one-China policy, but did not express the same concern when other political leaders visited before.

Pelosi defended her choice to go and said it was worth it, calling China a “scared bully” and saying they did what they usually do, according to CBS News.

China has now completed live fire military exercises in the Taiwan Strait.

Could this cause a war between China and the U.S.?

According to The Sun, America runs the risk of China attacking them over Taiwan, and the U.S. needs to “up its war preparations.”

This warning comes from an authority on China’s military, expert Oriana Skylar Mastro.

Mastro has outlined a worst case scenario, should Taiwan decide to seek its independence.

She starts by describing the start of a war with missiles fired by China.

This would take out the U.S. airbase nearby on day one, with China winning the war by day 7.

The airbase, Kadena, is on a Japanese island.

Once the airbase is eliminated, China would move to attack Taiwan with missiles.

Attacks on political leaders in Taiwan would occur.

If the U.S. moves to defend Taiwan, China will start with cyber attacks so there can be no communication.

If everything went smoothly, this could just take three days.

The overall goal of China, and their perception of a win, isn’t a drawn out war, but taking over Taiwan.

Basically, if China lands in Taiwan well before American troops can assemble to keep them off the island, they would succeed.

Mastro stated that America is not willing to fight war at a level that would remove China from the island.

At the moment, China is working to create a military equal to the U.S. military by the year 2027, and so far they are succeeding.
