Child tax credit applications for up to $750 payments in Connecticut open

Connecticut opened child tax credit applications June 1, 2022 for families to start applying for payments worth up to $750.

Each household that qualifies will see $250 per child, with a limit of up to 3 children claimed.

This is part of the 2022 Connecticut Child Tax Rebate.

Governor Ned Lamont signed the bill into law on May 9, 2022.

Another state is added to the list of states providing assistance to families

This is possible due to the state’s $4 billion dollar surplus.

Payments are set to go out in August just in time for back to school season.

Families won’t automatically qualify, so they need to fill out an application.

The maximum rebate per child is $250 and the maximum number of children that can be claimed is 3.

There are certain income requirements parents must meet before they can qualify for a payment.

Single or married filing separately parents cannot have an income exceeding $100,000.

Head of household filers cannot exceed $160,000 per year.

Married filing jointly taxpayers may not make over $200,000 per tear.

Families that may qualify are being sent post cards, and around 300,000 were sent in May.

If your income exceeds the limit, you may still qualify but at a reduced rate.

This reduction is by 10% for ever one thousand dollars above the threshold your household income is.
