Mets roll past Phillies, 8-2

The New York Mets rolled past the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-2, on Saturday night at Citi Field.

New York has now taken the first two games of the three-game series.

Taijuan Walker got the start for the Mets and allowed a pair of runs on six hits over five innings. Colin Holderman, Adam Ottavin, and Seth Lugo each had scoreless outings in relief.


Jeff McNeil homered and collected three RBIs to lead New York, while Francisco Lindor also drove in three runs. Pete Alonso and Dominic Smith chipped in with RBIs. Luis Guillorme had a three-hit night.

J.T. Realmuto had a two-run single for the Phillies.

The Mets will go for the three-game sweep on Sunday night. The first pitch is slated for 7:08 p.m.
