Hobart edges Merrimack, 12-11

The Hobart Statesmen (4-5, 2-3 NEC) rallied from an early four-goal deficit to earn a 12-11 victory over the Merrimack Warriors (5-5, 2-3 NEC) on Saturday afternoon at Duane Stadium.

Merrimack led 4-3 after the first quarter, but Hobart outscored them 3-1 in the second to take a 6-5 lead into the break. Each team scored six goals in the second half and Hobart secured the one-goal victory.

Derrek Madonna, John Herlihy, Bradley Simas, Anthony Dattellas and Chad Back each notched multi-goal games for the Statesmen. Tommy Mott and Adam Shea also found the back of the net in the win. Mott finished with a team-high three points.


Christian Thomas scored five goals to lead the Warriors. Jack Rooney, Drew Hailey, Kaden Brunson, Trace Hogan, Brian Bouwman and Mason Balch also tallied in the loss.

Goalkeeper Kevin Holtby made 14 saves to earn the win for Hobart. Henry Vogt stopped 14 shots for Merrimack.

Hobart held a 52-42 edge in shots and a 15-10 advantage in the face-off circle

The Statesmen will look for its third consecutive victory next Saturday at home against LIU.
