Geneva calls for ‘shovel ready’ development proposals

The City of Geneva is actively seeking proposals for “shovel-ready” development projects eligible for state and federal grants.

David West, the city’s Planning and Economic Development Director, told the Finger Lakes Times this week that the initiative is a strategic move to compile a list of potential improvements by committed building owners.

This call aligns with the city’s proactive stance towards enhancing its infrastructure and community spaces through notable programs like Restore NY 8 and the New York Main Streets program.

Geneva says its is focused on supporting projects that, without governmental financial aid, would not be feasible. These projects are critical to the community’s broader interests and align with the city’s goals of commercial revitalization, housing improvement, and the advancement of the Comprehensive Plan.

The deadline for project submissions is set for March 18 at 4 p.m.
