The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Utica Comets, 5-3, on Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center.
Crunch goaltender Max Lagace turned aside 10-of-14 shots. Akira Schmid stopped 32-of-35 in net for the Comets.
All three of Syracuse’s goals came late in the third period. Gabriel Fortier, Simon Ryfors Alex Barre-Boulet scored in the loss.
Frederik Gauthier, Ryan Schmelzer, Chase De Leo, Aarne Talvitie and Tyce Thompson found the back of the net for Utica.
Syracuse finished 0-for-5 on the power play and 0-for-2 on the penalty kill.
The Crunch will be back in action on Saturday when they square off with the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7 p.m.
