Sabres fall to Rangers in OT, 5-4

The Buffalo Sabres extended their point streak to five games, but fell to the New York Rangers in overtime, 5-4, on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden.

Jeff Skinner scored a late power-play goal to tie the game and force overtime. Rasmus Asplund, Will Butcher and Kyle Okposo also scored in the loss.

Craig Anderson made 26 saves for Buffalo.

Frank Vatrano scored twice for the Rangers while Artemi Panarin, Alexis Lafrenier and K’Andre Miller also scored.


Alexander Georgiev stopped 13 shots to earn the win.

Buffalo converted on their only power play opportunity and finished a perfect 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.

The Sabres will head to Chicago to face the Blackhawks on Monday night at 8:30 p.m.
