Constellation Brands appoints Baldwin non-executive chair

Constellation Brands, a leading beverage alcohol company, has announced the appointment of Christopher Baldwin as the new non-executive chair of the company’s board of directors, effective March 1. Baldwin, a managing partner at CVC Capital Partners, brings a wealth of experience from his extensive background in the consumer-packaged goods and food and beverage industries. His leadership roles at companies like BJ’s Wholesale Club and Kraft Foods Group highlight his expertise in branding, marketing, and human capital development.

José Manuel Madero, a board member and interim chair at Constellation Brands, expressed enthusiasm for Baldwin’s appointment, citing the significant benefits his experience and industry knowledge will bring to the company. Baldwin’s leadership is expected to play a crucial role in steering Constellation towards sustainable growth and increased shareholder returns, particularly as the beverage alcohol category continues to evolve.

This board change follows the voluntary resignation of Susan Somersille Johnson from Constellation’s board on February 17. Johnson’s departure, after serving since July 2017, is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to refresh and enhance its governance structure. This initiative began after Constellation transitioned to a single class share structure in November 2022, aiming to streamline decision-making and foster growth.
