Form 7004 and requesting an extension from the IRS
If you want to file for an extension, you need to be sure to do so before or on the deadline for taxes.
This year that date is April 18, 2022.
This form can be filed electronically.
Average refunds are $658 more dollars in 2022 compared to 2021
Forms that cannot be filed electronically include Forms 8612, 8613, 8725, 8831, 8876, or 706-GS(D).
You may file 7004 with the Modernized e-File (MeF) platform.
If you can’t file it electronically, you can file it through the IRS service center.
You can find the form and address you need to send it to on the IRS website.
If you’re granted an extension, keep in mind it’s not an extension for paying taxes due.
Those still need to be paid to the IRS by April 18.
