As people continue to file their 2021 taxes, many are wondering when they’ll get the refund.
Here’s what to expect and how to track it.

When will I get my refund?
The due date for filing individual tax returns and making payments is April 18,2022. If you won’t be able to file on time, look into applying for an extension. Read more about it here.
If you’ve already filed, you can check the status on the IRS website under the Where’s My Refund page. However, the IRS only updates tax return statuses once a day during the week. The update usually happens between midnight and 6am. Checking the site more than once during the day won’t lead to a different result.
If you’ve filed electronically, your refund should be to you in under three weeks. It could be to you even faster if you sign up for direct deposit. If you filed a paper return the expected wait is six to eight weeks.
There have been several changes to major tax credits and deductions. This means you likely won’t see the same refund you did last year.
