Cayuga Health has purchased two former storefronts at the Shops at Ithaca Mall to convert into a multi-use facility.
The health system’s plan for the 108,00 square-foot space is to bring together existing practices and lease out other small, interior storefronts, according to Ithaca Journal. The space formerly housed Sears and Bon-Ton stores.
Cayuga Health purchased the two storefronts in separate transactions for $8.5 million in total. Local leaders hope the establishment of medical practices at Ithaca Mall brings traffic to retail shops as well, which have been threatened by online shopping.
