New York State will soon close their applications for a UBI program that helps unemployed artists in the state.
The UBI program, Creatives Rebuild New York, will close their applications Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.
$125 million dollars are being allocated to artists that show they’re in financial need.
The money is worth $1,000 per month and 2,400 applicants will be chosen.
UBI: Deadline for $1,000 monthly payments ends today
The payments will continue over a span of 18 months.
In addition to that, there’s another option for artists to enroll in the Artist Employment Program where they’ll for for community organizations and be paid $65,000 annually with benefits.
This is a two year UBI program for 300 artists in New York State.
The organizations that employ artists will be given grants worth $25,000 to $100,000 to help their work with artists.

The organization needs to be a tax exempt charity and serve specific communities to qualify.
Any artists not chosen will be sent newsletters outlining other options they have for aid.
The unemployment among artists jumped 1,208% in comparison to 2019 once the pandemic hit.
