Farmington woman arrested for welfare fraud

Police say a Farmington woman was arrested for following a welfare fraud investigation.

According to a news release, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tracy Lynn Nowak, 28, of Farmington for welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.

It is alleged by the Ontario County Department of Social Services, that Nowak failed to truthfully report her household income and received over $3,000 in SNAP benefits.

Nowak was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in the Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
