The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Upstate New York District Office recently announced their award winners for National Small Business Week 2024, celebrating from April 29 to May 4. Among the notable honorees was Mark Braun of Doug’s Fish Fry, named Rural Small Business Owner of the Year for his significant contributions to his community and the local economy.

National Small Business Week, a 60-year tradition, honors the pivotal role of entrepreneurs and small business owners across the country. Candidates for the SBA awards are evaluated based on their business longevity, growth in employees, profit increase over the past three years, resilience, and community involvement. These criteria highlight the dedication and impact of small business owners in their communities.

SBA Administrator Isabella Guzman praised the winners, emphasizing their role in fueling the economy and supporting the nation’s entrepreneurial spirit under the Biden-Harris Administration. “Our winners exemplify excellence and innovation, and we are proud to showcase their achievements during this historic week,” Guzman said.
