Stimulus Check: Have a baby in 2021? Claim your stimulus payment

Americans everywhere are filing their tax returns, and some are finding that if they had a newborn in 2021, they can claim the stimulus check.

IRS tax return to submit to the IRS and claim a missed stimulus check or payment with the recovery rebate credit

Anyone that can claim a new dependent can expect a stimulus check with their 2022 refund.

The $1,400 will go toward a qualifying child.

If you earned over $80,000 in 2020 but less in 2021, you’ll also be able to claim a stimulus check based on your change in income.

The most a couple can make before they cannot claim a check in $160,000.

Stimulus check: Letter 6475

The third stimulus check was sent in 2021 and based on 2019 and 2020 tax returns.

If your 2021 tax return makes you eligible but your 2020 or 2019 did not, you can claim the payment.

The IRS used old information because it’s all they had, so there was no way for them to know if a dependent had been added or if there was a loss of income.

The final batch of stimulus checks went out in Dec. 2021 and no more are being sent.

Where’s My Refund Tool: Why is my return still processing?

The only way to receive a payment now is to file a tax return and claim the recovery rebate credit.

Some may need to claim the remainder of a payment because they were sent a partial payment. They need to know the partial amount they originally received to report it. They’ll see the rest in your refund.

This information will be in Letter 6475, sent by the IRS detailing your 2021 stimulus payment.
